Partners

In Fall of 2005, the TCN convened a consortium of leaders from schools of nursing, healthcare facilities and other healthcare entities to initially form the Regional Clinical Placement Partnership (RCPP) in Middle Tennessee and develop plans for an online clinical placement program. The partnership's mission is to improve the efficacy and capacity of student nurse clinical placements in Tennessee healthcare facilities through the use of a centralized, coordinated, on-line clinical placement and orientation system.

The initial work of the RCPP met with great success and soon other areas of the state were interested in joining together to form regional partnerships in other areas of the state leading to the formation of the collective Tennessee Clinical Placement Partnership or TCPP. Schools and Clinical Facilities across the state are coming together to form additional RCPPs under the TCPP model. These are founded upon a union of common purposes where all parties benefit from the synergies of cooperation and the fruits of success. It is a “working relationship” characterized by mutual participation, joint interest, and mutual respect.

Other regions of the state are in varying stages of organizing:

  • West Tennessee (Memphis area) - ACTIVE (Fall 2007
  • MidWest Tennessee (Jackson, Dyersburg areas) - Exploring options for partnership to form a new region
  • Northeast Tennessee - Pending further interest by region
  • East Tennessee - Exploring options for partnership
  • Southeast Tennessee - ACTIVE (Fall 2008)

Current Partner List

Because of the geographic locations of Tennessee's major cities, partnership has been extended across state lines to schools and facilities in other states that bring students into Tennessee and/or supply clinical placements to students from Tennessee. For instance, Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green Kentucky is a partner in the Middle Tennessee RCPP because they bring students into Tennessee Clinical Facilities. We welcome NON-Tennessee Partners!

"In order to encourage the development and deployment of nursing personnel with skills appropriate to the health care system, the public, policy makers and the profession must engage in ongoing long-term workforce planning, regardless of the perceived or real pressures related to the short-term demand for nursing services."

The TCPP represents a mechanism for nurses from academe and industry to collectively work together to address the nursing workforce shortage.
